Crime Scene TapeA body found near Oskaloosa on December 16th is now identified as that of a missing Oskaloosa man.

The State Medical Examiner in Ankeny has identified the body as that of 34-year-old Jeffrey Allen Versteegh.

Versteegh had been reported missing to the Oskaloosa Police Department this past July.

The cause of death has not been determined. Final autopsy results are expected in 6 to 8 weeks.

A joint investigation is being conducted by the Mahaska County Sheriff’s office, the Oskaloosa Police Department, the Iowa State Medical Examiner and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

No further information was released.
