A toddler in Dubuque was shot on Sunday.

Dubuque authorities got a 911 call late Sunday morning about an injured child. Paramedics determined the “injury was consistent with a gunshot wound,” according to a news release from Dubuque police. Several people were inside the home on Dubuque’s Main Street when authorities arrived.

The injured child is a boy who is nearly three. The boy was first taken to a Dubuque hospital, then air lifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

The gun used to shoot the boy has been recovered and police say the public is not in danger. No charges have been filed “at this time” according to Dubuque police, who say their investigation of the incident continues.
