The Iowa basketball team debuts in the Associated Press Poll at number 19. The Hawkeyes are 11-3 overall and opened Big Ten play last week with victories over top ranked Michigan State and 14th ranked Purdue.

“This week was an important week for us”, said Iowa coach Fran McCaffery. “We played well and beat two very good teams. Most importantly we got tremendous productivity from a lot of different people and that is what you are going to need in this league moving forward.”

Iowa returns to action at home on Tuesday night by hosting Nebraska. The Huskers are 8-7 overall and opened the Big Ten race with home losses to Northwestern and Indiana.
