Three killed in SE Iowa trailer home fire

Fire-truck-emergency-servThree people were killed in a fire in southeast Iowa Monday. A release from the Lee County Sheriff’s office states Montrose firefighters were first called to the scene of the trailer home fire, just outside of Montrose, at 1:09 p.m. Upon arrival, the trailer was fully engulfed in flames.

One person, identified as 33-year-old Jacob Glen Russell of Keokuk, managed to escape the trailer but he suffered “severe burns and lacerations.” Russell was eventually airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

The bodies of three people were found in the fire. Their names have not been released. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
