Belle Plaine mother and child die in accident near Marengo

January 14, 2016 By Matt Kelley

Ambulance-Back-DoorA young woman and her toddler son were killed in a traffic crash this morning in eastern Iowa.

The crash happened shortly after 7 a.m. on Highway 212 about five miles west of Marengo. The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office reports 18-year-old Bethany Clark of Belle Plaine lost control of her car, possibly due to a “frost covered roadway.”

The vehicle went in a ditch, struck a creek embankment, and started on fire. Clark and her two-year-old son, Roran, died at the scene.
