IowaPowerball-thumbSeven tickets purchased in Iowa came within one number of having at least a share of the world record jackpot in last night’s Powerball drawing.

Iowa Lottery officials say players in the state won nearly 225,000 prizes, including a $2 million prize from a ticket purchased in Onawa in western Iowa.

The top prize of $1.6 billion was split by three tickets purchased in California, Florida, and Tennessee. Overall, Iowans spent over $12 million dollars on Powerball tickets in the past week, including $6.2 million on Wednesday alone. In addition to the $2 million winning ticket in Onawa, three tickets sold in the state won a $50,000 prize, while three others won prizes of $100,000.

The winning numbers in the drawing were: 4-8-19-27-34 and Powerball 10. The Power Play number was 2.
