Two of the three teams tied at the top of the Missouri Valley Conference women’s basketball race meet in Cedar Falls as Northern Iowa hosts Drake. The Panthers and Bulldogs are both 10-3 in the Valley and tied at the top with Missouri State.

“Everybody understands the Drake game, the in state rivalry and both teams being tied for first”, said UNI coach Tanya Warren. “The history has been the games have been extremely competitive and I don’t think this will be any different.”

UNI beat Drake 79-73 in Des Moines last month and Warren says the Panthers slowed down Drake’s fast break by playing well on offense. The Bulldogs are 12-1 in games they score 80 or more points.

“There is no secret we do like to get up and down and we want it to be a high scoring game but that is not the whole philosophy”, said Drake coach Jennie Baranczyk. ” The philosophy is playing team basketball and there are moments we are really good at that and moments we need to get better at that.”
