February 25, 2016 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Patrol-logoThe state patrol has released more information about a fatal accident in eastern Iowa blamed on “debris” in the roadway.

The accident happened a little before 5 p.m. Wednesday in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 in Davenport. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 65-year-old Richard Allen Miedema of Walcott died when another motorist struck a car part on the highway. It was kicked up and went through Miedema’s windshield. He died at the scene.

A woman passenger was taken to a hospital but her injuries were not believed to be serious. Part of eastbound Interstate 80 was blocked for a time as police investigated the accident.
