John-DeereDeere & Company is laying off workers at plants in two Iowa cities. The company has told about 100 workers at Deere’s factories in Davenport and Dubuque that they will be placed on indefinite layoff effective April 1st.

Both facilities are part of the company’s construction and forestry division. Approximately 80 of the layoffs will take place at John Deere Davenport Works and the remaining 20 affect the Dubuque facility.

Iowa’s largest manufacturing employer says the layoffs reflect the company’s ongoing efforts to balance the size of its manufacturing workforce with market demand.
