Hawkeyes melt down and Indiana celebrates

Iowa’s late season swoon continued and Indiana celebrated the Big Ten championship. The Hawkeyes rallied from 14 down in the second half but were simply dreadful at crunch time on offense in an 81-78 loss.

It was Iowa’s fourth straight loss and just days after being in the drivers seat in the title chase the Hawks are in danger of dropping all the way to the seventh seed in the Big Ten Tournament.

The Hawkeyes finished the game by making only one of their final 12 shots.

“We missed shots we normally make and that is what has been frustrating”, said Iowa coach Fran McCaffery. “We are taking good shots and moving the ball. We are unselfish and as long as you have a team doing that you are not upset with them and I am not upset with them and I am proud of the fight.”

Indiana took control by connecting on eight three pointers in the opening half and finished 11-of-22 from three point range.

Jarrod Uthoff led Iowa with 18 points and Anthony Clemmons added 14 as Iowa falls to 11-6 in the Big Ten and 20-9 overall.
