Two people were taken to the hospital after a house fire in Cedar Rapids. Firefighters were called around 2 a.m. to a large home on the southwest side of the city that had been split into three apartments.
Everyone was out of the home when firefighters arrived and they were able to put out the fire in a first floor apartment, while also cooling down the next door apartment.
Two of the residents were taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City for treatment of smoke inhalation. Their conditions were not released and fire investigators have not yet released a cause for the fire.
