Defending champs ousted in 4A

March 2, 2016 By Todd Kimm

ighsau-logo-300There will be a new champion in class 4A. Freshman Sophie Willette scored 12 points and seventh ranked Marion held off a late rally by third ranked Harlan to oust the two-time defendind champions 46-38.

“It is a crazy feeling playing in the well with all of my teammattes”, said Willette. “Going into the game we just thought of it as a regular game and we had the mentality to win and we just went out and did it.”

Harlan had only six points at halftime and trailed 29-11 midway through the third quarter before rallying.

“You know these kids never stop and they continue to play hard and they never believe they are out of a game and they proved it”, said Harlan coach Zach Klaassen. ” We got to within four with us having the ball and they just didn’t fall.”

Jordyn Moser had 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Cyclones, who finish the season with a record of 20-3.
