A “big box” sporting goods retailer, with locations in Iowa, has filed for bankruptcy. Sports Authority’s bankruptcy filing shows the company has more than $1 billion in liabilities and assets valued at less than $50,000.

The Englewood, Colorado based company plans to close up to 140 of its 463 stores. There are Sports Authority stores in Ames, West Des Moines, and Omaha. It’s unclear, for now, if any of those locations will be closed.
