Springville headed back to 1A title contest

ighsau-logo-300Third ranked Springville is headed back to the 1A championship game. The Orioles made 27 of 39 free throws and survived 27 turnovers in a 59-52 win over defending champion Newell-Fonda.

When the Orioles did break the press they scored. The made eight of 11 shots in the second half.

” We just felt like at halftime if we could get to our offense and get through that press and get through the pressure we could get some good looks at the basket”, said Springville coach Nate Sanderson. “We were fortunate to be able to convert some free throws down the stretch and hang on.”

Defending champion Newell-Fonda was whistled for 29 fouls in the game.
