ihsaaDefense and rebounding helped Western Christian advance in class 2A. Despite shooting only 40 percent for the game the Wolfpack never trailed in 56-42 win over Carroll Kuemper.

Jesse Jansma led the Wolfpack with 14 points. Dustin Marra had 12 and Josh Van Lingen had 12 points and 14 rebounds.

“That is huge because whenever you come down here you have to have balance”, said Van Lingen. You can’t have one player score all the time because teams could key on him.”

Kuemper coach Sean Minnehan said a 42-33 rebounding advantage by Western Christian was a big factor in the outcome.

“The number one key to victory was winning the rebounding battle and we were unable to do that”, said Minnehan.

Matt Dentlinger had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Knights who finish with a record of 18-7.
