Jury in Decorah acquits Boone man in wife’s death

March 10, 2016 By Matt Kelley

GavelA former Boone man, who was on trial for the death of his wife, has been found not guilty.

Forty-two-year-old Alexander Fazzino contended his wife’s drowning in a bathtub in January 2012 was an accident, possibly induced by abuse of prescription drugs.

Prosecutors argued Emily Fazzino died by strangulation.

Emily Fazzino’s family owns the Fareway grocery store chain.

The two week long trial took place in Winnishiek County and the jury returned the not guilty verdict Wednesday afternoon.
