Buddy Hield scored 39 points and sixth ranked Oklahoma held off a late rally by Iowa State to post a 79-76 win in the quarterfinal round of the Big-12 Tournament.

“You can look at a lot of different things but I was proud of our guys effort and resiliency throughout the game”, said Iowa State coach Steve Prohm. “now we need to get back home and get rested up to make a run in the tournament.”

Senior Georges Niang led the rally for the Cyclones. Niang scored 25 of his team high 31 points in the second half.

“Being in the Big-12 for four years and going out like this obviously stings”, said Niang. “But this team will bounce back.”

The Cyclones fall to 21-11 and the loss ends Iowa State’s bid for a third straight Big-12 Tournament title.
