March 21, 2016 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Police-lightsA boating accident led to a teenager’s death in western Iowa on Sunday afternoon.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a pond in rural Crawford County for a boating accident. It was determined that 18-year-old Bode Lloyd of Kiron, Bradley Meeves, and Isaac Deveraux were in a boat on the pond when it capsized.

Meeves and Deveraux made several attempts to assist Lloyd to shore but were unsuccessful. Dive teams from Carroll and Denison were able to locate and recover Lloyd’s body at approximately 6:30 Sunday night.

The incident remains under investigation by the Crawford County Medical Examiner and the Department of Natural Resources.
