Worker dies at fertilizer plant near Sioux City

Ambulance-Back-DoorOne worker died, another was hospitalized, after a construction accident Saturday afternoon at the site of the CF Industries fertilizer plant, just south of Sioux City.

The Woodbury County Sheriff says the two men were working in a tower tank when one of the workers became unconscious. The second man managed to get out of the tank.

The unconscious worker was later pronounced dead. He has been identified as 44-year-old Arturo Castor-Cavanzon of Tecumseh, Nebraska. The second worker, who has not been identified,was transported to Mercy Medical Center. The workers were employees of Performance Contractors. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
