Two dead in what may be a murder-suicide in Fayette County

March 22, 2016 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Sheriff-patrolAuthorities in northeast Iowa are investigating an apparent murder-suicide.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department says they took a report of shots fired and a female lying on the ground on Linden Street in West Union shortly before 9 P.M. Deputies and West Union police say the female died of a gunshot wound.

Authorities say a suspect was identified and later found in a pickup truck south of Calmar dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No names are being released at this time and further finding will be released as the investigation unfolds. The matter is a joint investigation of the Fayette County Sheriff’s office, West Union Police and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
