An autopsy is being released on a man whose whose body was found December 13th in a residential area of Fort Dodge.
The body was identified as 55-year-old Mark Umbaugh of Fort Dodge. After a thorough examination, state medical examiner Dr. Michele Catellier said the death was ruled as a homicide. Dr. Catellier said the cause of death was determined to be a closed head injury with probable hypothermia and other contributing medical factors.
Based on the findings of the investigation, Fort Dodge Police officers have identified a number of unfortunate circumstances that may have possibly contributed to the death of Umbaugh. Fort Dodge Police continue with their investigation. Police chief Kevin Doty said the incident appears to be an isolated one and there is no reason to believe that the public is in any danger.
