
Georges Niang
Iowa State senior Georges Niang and Iowa senior Jarrod Uthoff haven been named All Americans by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Niang was a second-team selection after leading the Cyclones to a 23-12 record and the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Niang, who was a third-team pick by the NABC as a junior, finished his senior season averaging 20.5 points per game, the most by any Cyclone since Craig Brackins averaged 20.2 points in 2009. Niang also averaged a career-high 6.2 rebounds and shot 54.6 percent from the floor, 39.2 percent from 3-point range and 80.7 percent from the free-throw line.
Uthoff was a third team selection after helping lead the Hawkeyes to a 22-11 record and the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Uthoff ranked second in the Big Ten in scoring at 18.9 points per game, first in blocked shots , and tied for 13th in rebounding . The forward ranks 19th in Iowa career scoring and scored in double figures in all but one game this season, including netting 20 points or more a team-best 16 times.
