The Iowa baseball team slammed four home runs in a 12-3 win over Northern Illinois in non-conference action in Iowa City.

“We did not have a lot of hits today but we had some guys step up and hit the ball out of the park”, said Iowa coach Rick Heller. “The best part of today was those freshmen pitchers bounced back with way better outings than they had last week.”

Tyler Peyton had a grand slam as part of an eight run sixth inning as the Hawkeyes improve to 10-12 on the season.

“I can’t recall if I hit a grand slam ever so it was pretty nice”, said Peyton.

The Hawkeyes return to action on Friday when they open a three game Big Ten series at Minnesota.
