Iowa tight ends coach LeVar Woods is looking to build depth at his position as spring drills progress. Henry Krieger-Coble and Jake Duzey are gone from last year’s team and senior George Kittle is the most experienced player returning.

“Also there are a host of younger guys that don’t have as much experience behind him”, said Woods. “Overall the group is very young but it is a group that is hungry.”

Kittle had a breakout junior season in which he caught 20 passes, including a team-high six touchdowns. Woods says those score passes displayed Kittle’s potential.

“A lot of them were play action where it looks like he is coming out and going to run the corner over and then he hits the gas and runs by him. That is what he does really well and we just have to clean up some detail in his route running and his run blocking.”
