Men from Clinton and Mediapolis sentenced to prison for receiving child porn

GavelTwo Iowa men have been sentenced to federal prison on separate child pornography charges.

Forty-four-year-old Timothy John Hansen of Clinton pleaded guilty in September of last year to receiving child pornography. He admitted in a plea agreement that he downloaded child porn and a search of his home found electronic devices containing 7,600 images of child porn and 63 videos. Hansen was sentenced to 130 months in prison, ordered to give up his electronic devices, and he will have to be listed on the sex offender registry.

Forty-eight-year-old Thomas James McLaughlin of Mediapolis pleaded guilty in October of last year to receiving child pornography. Police used a search warrant at his home and found 5,200 pornographic images of children and 271 videos on his electronic devices. McLaughling was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison.

He will also have to forfeit his electronic devices and register with the state sex offender registry.
