With five victories in its last six games the Iowa Hawkeye baseball team has established a solid home field advantage. Tonight, they will try to prove they can win on the road.

The Hawkeyes take a 16-15 overall record and a 5-4 Big Ten mark to Indiana to open a three game series. Coach Rick Heller’s team has won only two of 12 games on the road.

“That is something that we have done a real good job of the last two years is take care of business on the road”, said Heller. “We are swinging the bats better up and down the lineup and that is definitely going to help us if we can continue that.”

Indiana has won six straight and takes a 4-2 record into the series opener.

Iowa will send sophomore C.J. Eldred to the mound. The Mount Vernon native is 2-3 on the season.

“It will be a big day for C.J. because he started his career at Indiana and knows a lot of guys on the team. Hopefully he will go out there and give us a quality start and a chance to win which he has done every time he has taken the ball.”
