Decorah man under investigation after shots heard near school

Police car lightsCriminal charges are pending against a Decorah man after police were alerted Tuesday morning about a man with a gun near a school.

Decorah police say 58-year-old Joseph Gallagher was in the area of the Crossroads Academy and reportedly was making suicidal comments. Authorities say after gun shots were heard, Gallagher was found at his residence and taken into custody.

No injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.
