Upper Iowa is 41-13 after winning the NSIC Tournament

Upper Iowa softball coach Amanda Bradberry has been scouring the internet looking for information as she prepares a game plan.

The Peacocks travel to Russellville, Arkansas, for Thursday’s start of the NCAA Division II Central Region. They play top seeded and host Arkansas Tech in an opening round game. The Golden Suns are 46-9 and won the Great American Conference title.

“I like to try and find any videos of them playing”, said Bradberry. “I also like to read post game articles to see if there is any information they will give away. We also e-mail coaches of opponents to see if they can help us out.”

Upper Iowa is the eighth seed in the region and at 41-13 is making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Bradberry wants her team to relax and not get caught up in the moment.

“It is just the game of softball and at the end of the day it is a game they have grown up playing. We play our best when we are having fun.”

Minnesota State-Mankato and Northwest Missouri State meet in the other first round game. The winner of the double elimination tournament will advance to next week’s Super Regional.
