The schedule makers could not have planned it any better. Cornell College and Grinnell College collide in a four game series this week that will decide the South Division race of the Midwest Conference.

Grinnell is ranked 25th nationally and leads the division at 12-0. Cornell is second at 10-2 and both teams will be heading to the conference tournament next week.

“Grinnell is in the regional rankings so these regular season games will be a little bit more meaningful for them”, said Cornell coach Seth Wing. “From our standpoint it is about showing we are ready to compete with them and preparing for the conference championships next weekend.”

The series begins tonight with a doubleheader in Mt. Vernon and then shifts to Grinnell for a twinbill on Saturday. Both teams have outstanding starting pitching.

“It is scary how similar the season stats are with these two programs. I does come down to starting pitching and we know they are going to run out four very good arms and I feel like we can match them pitch for pitch.”
