Two people died in an accident in southwest Iowa’s Cass County.
Twenty-seven-year old Tara Norton of West Des Moines and 70-year old James Snyder, of Adair, died in a near head-on crash just after 8 A.M. Saturday about one-mile east of Anita. Sixty-three-year old Constance Snyder, of Adair, was injured in the crash and flown to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
The State Patrol says Norton was traveling west on White Pole Road, when her car slipped off the highway onto the shoulder. She overcorrected, causing the vehcile to go out of control and into the eastbound lane, where it struck a van driven by Constance Snyder.
Both vehicles then ended-up in a ditch. Norton died at the scene. James Snyder died a short time later at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. Snyder served the Adair-Casey School District for years as a coach, line judge, a press box official and was often seen at district events. He also served for a time on the Adair City Council.
