Men from Boone and Des Moines die in Greene County accident

Police car lightsTwo people were killed in a single-vehicle accident Saturday morning near Grand Junction in Greene County.

The victims are identified as 36-year-old John J. Twombly of Des Moines and passenger, 26-year-old Alexander J. Sharer of Boone. Reportedly, an eastbound 1989 Chevrolet Corvette driven by Twombly was navigating a curve in the roadway when the driver veered off the road to the north.

The car went through a cable guard rail and down a steep embankment on the north side of the roadway. After traveling down the embankment, the vehicle hit a tree causing severe damage to the car and killing both occupants. The accident remains under investigation.
