Several Iowa departments help in federal meth investigation

FBI-logoMore details are expected to be released sometime this week on a drug investigation that involved multiple agencies and led to eight arrests.

The FBI issued a news release Saturday announcing that seven people had been arrested after 29 search warrants were executed in an investigation into a methamphetamine conspiracy. The release says the investigation was coordinated by the U.S. Department of Justice Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, and included 250 officers from multiple law enforcement departments across the state.

The release lists four men from Marshalltown, one from Cedar Falls, one from Denver, and one from Wisconsin who were arrested on federal charges. The charges against the men and other details were not given. A person in the Omaha office of the FBI says there will be a news conference sometime this week to release more details on the investigation.

The FBI says these individuals were arrested on federal charges:

Aldo Omar L opez Martinez, 21, Marshalltown, Iowa; Osbaldo Nieto Arreola a.k.a. Osbaldo Martinez Arreola, a.k.a. Adan Sanchez Chaves, 25, Marshalltown, Iowa; Roque Rodriguez Arellano, 32, Marshalltown, Iowa; Alejandro Hernandez, 38, Marshalltown, Iowa; Chad Ellis Weyland, 38, Cedar Falls, Iowa; Michael Vincent Woodberry Bent, 37, Denver, Iowa; and Edward Behrens, 50, Benton, Wisconsin.

The FBI says these Iowa agencies were involved in the operation:

Asbury Police Department, Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, Bremer County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Cedar County Sheriff’s Office, Cedar Rapids Police Department, Cedar Falls Police Department, Central Iowa Drug Task Force, Clayton County Sherriff’s Office, Coralville Police Department, Decorah Police Department, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Des Moines Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administ ration, Dubuque Police Department, Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, Dyersville Police Department, Evansdale Police Department, Iowa City Police Department,Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Iowa Division of Narcotic Enforcement, Iowa State Patrol, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Marshalltown Police Department, Mid Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force, Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office, Muscatine Police Department, North Liberty Police Department, Tama County Sheriff’s Office, University of Iowa Police Department,Waterloo Police Department, Waverly Police Department.
