Suspect sought in assault of woman in Iowa City

Police-lightsIowa City Police are searching for a man who assaulted a woman early Sunday. Officers were called at 2:30 a.m. to what was reported as a fight downtown, in the 10th block of South Dubuque Street.

When officers arrived, they found a woman bleeding from her nose and mouth. The victim said a man assaulted her after she refused his advances to go home with him. The man allegedly spit in the woman’s face before punching her. The victim was treated at a hospital.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’8″ to 6″ tall, medium build, with shoulder length brown hair. He was wearing a black sweatshirt or jacket.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
