Motorcyclist injured in crash on biking/walking trail

May 17, 2016 By Matt Kelley

dbq-policeA motorcyclist has been critically injured in a wreck on a walking and bicycling trail in Dubuque. The accident happened early Tuesday morning, shortly after midnight.

Dubuque police were called to the scene and discovered 25-year-old Spencer Dress of Dubuque on the ground, unconscious. Dress was first taken to a Dubuque hospital, then transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Authorities say “early indications are” that Dress was driving the motorcycle on the trail “at a high rate of speed and lost control.”

Dress was found on the Heritage Trail. It’s a 30-mile-long walking and bicycling trail that runs from Dubuque to Dyersville, following an old railroad line.
