Governor Terry Branstad canceled all of his events planned for today.

Branstad was scheduled to travel to Mason City this morning for a bill-signing ceremony on legislation designed to benefit the state’s renewable fuels industry.

But, Ben Hammes, the Governor’s spokesperson, says Branstad is resting at home today due to a “bout of seasonal illness.” Hammes added all of Branstad’s scheduled events were postponed “out of an abundance of caution.”

The 69-year-old Branstad was also scheduled to speak today at an event in Urbandale.

The governor has been cautious about coming to work sick after doing so in January of 2015 when he had a case of the flu and had to be taken to the hospital after having problems while giving a speech.
