May 31, 2016 By Dar Danielson

IUB-logoThe Iowa Utilities Board has scheduled a meeting to discuss whether Dakota Access can begin construction of the Bakken oil pipeline.

Dakota Access has requested permission to begin work on the pipeline in areas not under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The board received the request from the company on May 6th. The Utilities Board gave approval for a construction permit to build the pipeline across 18 Iowa counties, with the condition that the company get proper permits to cross waterways and other areas under the jurisdiction of the Corps.

The meeting Wednesday is at 10 a.m. at IUB’s office in Des Moines. It will also be streamed live online.
