June 1, 2016 By Matt Kelley

Police car lightsA police officer was injured in a crash while responding to an emergency call this morning in Ankeny.

Iowa State Patrol Sergeant Nathan Ludwig says the officer’s lights and sirens were on when he crashed into a pickup that was pulling out of a bank parking lot. Both drivers were injured.

“I don’t know how serious their injuries are, but they were both transported to local hospitals,” Ludwig said. The crash happened shortly after 9 a.m. on Highway 69 in Ankeny. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating

“We’re getting video from the officer’s car and from local businesses near the intersection to see what the situation of the (traffic) lights were at the time and we’re gathering witness statements,” Ludwig said.
