The PGA Tour Champions returns to the Wakonda Club in Des Moines on Friday for the opening round of the Principal Charity Classic. John Daly is a 50-year-old rookie on the tour and says the key for him will be to avoid the rough off the tee.

“It is just a matter of hitting fairways for me”, said Daly. “There are opportunities out here, there is no doubt about it but the rough is up more than it usually is because of all the rain.”

Daly tees off at 11:10a.m. in a group that includes Rocco Mediate and Miguel Angel Jiminez. Mark Calcavecchia is the defending champion of the event which pays 262 thousand dollars to win.
