ptlThe 30th year for the Prime Time summer basketball league will get a later start than expected. Iowa City attorney Randy Larson is league director and says a delay in the certification process with the NCAA pushed the start of play to the end of this month.

“It does not change one thing”, said Larson. “We are still playing the same number of games we always have but we are just starting June 30th and going through the end of July.”

The league features players from Iowa and UNI and plays on Thursday nights at the North Liberty Community Center and Sunday nights at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex in Waterloo.

Larson played at Iowa State and spent several seasons playing overseas. He was in law school at Iowa and organizing pickup games for Hawkeye players when coach Tom Davis approached him about starting a summer league.

“I remember that first year somebody asked me how long I would do this and I told them it would not surprise me if someday I am roaming the sidelines with a cane. We are darn close to that I can tell you.”

The Prime Time league begins on June 30th. This will be the 16th year for the Game Time league for women and it begins play on July 6.
