Shenandoah teen struck and killed by car

June 8, 2016 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Police-lights-300x192A Shenandoah girl was killed when she was struck by a car Tuesday morning. The Iowa State Patrol confirms 14-year-old Kinsee Rooker died at the scene of the car-pedestrian accident at the intersection of Highway 2 and A Avenue in Shenandoah.

Investigators say Rooker, a member of Shenandoah High School’s cross country team, was running southbound on A Avenue during practice when she was struck by an eastbound car driven by 27-year-old Brent McKinnon of Clarinda. The accident occurred shortly after 7:15 a.m. No other injuries were reported.

Rooker was to have been a freshman at the high school this fall. Shenandoah High’s baseball and softball games scheduled for Tuesday night were postponed as a result of the accident.

No charges are filed against McKinnon.
