Father charged after Des Moines child dies in hot car

Crime Scene TapeA baby died over the weekend in Des Moines after police say the child was left in a stifling hot car.

The father of the six-month-old boy is charged with child endangerment resulting in death. Des Moines Police Sergeant Paul Parizek says 36-year-old Lance Williams Senior left his son in the car while he went into a barbershop for “an extended amount of time” on Saturday.

The high temperature in Des Moines on Saturday reached 91 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
