Police looking for information after body found in Des Moines River

Update:

The Polk County Sheriff’s department has identified the man as 40-year-old Minh Tran of Des Moines.

Previous story:

A body was found in a river near Des Moines over the weekend.

A 9-1-1 caller to the Polk County dispatch center reported seeing the body in the Des Moines River on Saturday night about 7:30 near Yellow Banks Park in the vicinity of Pleasant Hill. The body was recovered by deputies and rescue crews about 9 o’clock. It’s reportedly that of an adult Asian male.

The body was taken to the Polk County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. No name was released.
