Des Moines police identify victim in fatal motorcycle accident

June 20, 2016 By Matt Kelley

Police car lightsDes Moines police says a motorcyclist died this weekend after speeding away from a traffic stop.

A police officer pulled the motorcycle over Saturday night in downtown Des Moines for a traffic violation and the biker pulled into a parking lot, indicating he was stopping for the officer — then zipped away. The officer says he quickly lost sight of the motorcycle due to his high speed and did not pursue him.

Witnesses flagged the officer down moments later. The motorcycle had crashed a few blocks away and its rider, 25-year-old Vincent Quang of Des Moines, was dead.
