Former Clarion Goldfield football players reach plea agreement in hazing case

June 24, 2016 By Radio Iowa Contributor

GavelTwo former football players from Clarion Goldfield High School pleaded guilty this week to charges following a hazing incident last fall.

Eighteen-year-old Seth Pille pleaded guilty to two counts of assault. He received two 10-day suspended jail sentences, informal probation and two $65 fines.

Eighteen-year-old Michael Schaffer received a deferred judgment on assault charges and placed on probation for one year. Charges of third-degree sexual abuse were dismissed against both Pille and Schaffer.

Another football player, 17-year-old Tristan Mewes, had his case transferred to juvenile court as a result of the incident. The three football players were arrested last October and charged after the incident at Clarion Goldfield Dows High School where six freshman football players were allegedly targeted for a hazing initiation.
