A high school baseball coach in western Iowa has been suspended following an allegation that he was drunk at a game.

Coon Rapids Police say the incident occurred Friday night and involved Boyer Valley coach Jay Petersen. Police Chief Joel Roetman responded to the baseball field on a report that Petersen was consuming alcohol during the game. A sobriety test found Petersen’s blood alcohol content at .20, or more than twice the legal limit for driving (.08).

Petersen, who is also a physical education teacher and head football coach at Boyer Valley, was charged with public intoxication. He’s been suspended for the rest of the baseball season.
