July 1, 2016 By Matt Kelley

Police car lightsTwo children are among the three dead after two SUVs collided head-on last night near Marengo in Iowa County.

The state patrol says one driver lost control and went onto the shoulder, over-corrected and crossed into oncoming traffic. Those killed were all passengers: 42-year-old Marilyn Coon, 14-year-old Haley Cruise and 11-year-old Cherokee Neiman, all of Williamsburg.

Three people survived the crash, both drivers and another child. One of the drivers and a nine-year-old girl from Williamsburg are being treated at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
