Police-car-back-300x224Officials with the Catholic Church have suspended a priest who was arrested over the weekend in a southwest Iowa prostitution sting.

Fremont County Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Iowa State Patrol arrested 40-year-old Reverend Dominic Yamoah, of Clarinda, early Saturday morning in Hamburg. Yamoah was charged with solicitation of prostitution after he allegedly tried to get an undercover source to perform sexual acts for cash.

Yamoah has since posted bond and was released. A criminal complaint was filed in his case, on Monday. Yamoah, who was a pastor at Catholic Churches in Bedford, Clarinda and Villisca, has said he regrets his actions.

A statement issued by Des Moines Catholic Diocese said a replacement for the pastor will be made while he remains under suspension from his ministerial duties pending the outcome of legal proceedings.
