Dysart man dies in boating accident on the Mississippi River

July 13, 2016 By Matt Kelley

AmbulanceThe Iowa Department of Natural Resources says an eastern Iowa man died in a boating accident on the Mississippi River.

The accident happened around 7:30 Monday night, just south of Clayton, according to the Iowa DNR. Sixty-year-old Charles “Chuck” Peterson of Dysart reportedly lost his balance and fell from the boat that his wife was operating.

Peterson was not wearing a life jacket. He was pulled from the river by Garnavillo Fire Department personel, but he died at a hospital.

The Iowa DNR reports the boat was going slowly when Peterson fell and alcohol was not involved.
