July 18, 2016 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Police-lights-300x192A collision at a busy intersection Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a Charles City man.

The Iowa State Patrol in a report says a 2004 Harley-Davidson being operated by 23-year-old Thomas Houdek was crossing Highway 18 from Quarry Road and onto northbound Highway 218 when he pulled out from the stop sign in front of a 2001 Peterbilt semi driven by 44-year-old Joshua Brood of Plainfield.

The report says Brood, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected after his vehicle rolled as he attempting to avoid the collision. Houdek was pronounced dead at the scene while Brood was airlifted by Mercy Air Life to Mercy Mason City.
