August 24, 2016 By Matt Kelley

Police-lights-300x192Des Moines Police are praising a witness to a hit-and-run incident who helped them make an arrest in the case.

Police say an SUV hit a six-year-old boy who ran into a street near Drake University just before noon Tuesday. The SUV fled the scene, but a witness followed it for two miles and called police with the license plate number.

Thirty-two-year-old Naomi MacDonald of Norwalk is now charged with leaving the scene of a serious injury accident. The boy is expected to survive, but police said he was hospitalized with serious injuries.
